So my friends...
We have just over 4 weeks until we set off and I am in emotional turmoil! Things are heating up. Surely this is meant to be oh so very exciting and I should be on an emotional high, but no. Not yet. Don't get me wrong, I know how unbelievably luck I am to have this once in a life time opportunity and the excitement is still there- it just isn't bubbling at the surface of my emotional pot! Things have been hard- it is like being stuck in limbo, I am just waiting around to go thinking about all the things we need to do before we set off, all the people I need to see and say goodbye too, the money issues, moving out of my apartment, trying to lose a bit of weight so I don't get harpooned from being mistaken for a beached whale, arguments about how to tackle countries etc etc etc. Stressed is not the word! The stress has really made its presence known upon my skin! Eurghhhh!
However I have just booked a mini-break to take my niece and nephew to Center Parcs- went a little over budget but I won't see them for a year and will miss their birthday's and Christmas. Mike kindly got me a couple of spa treatments for whilst I am there to chill me out as a graduation present.
My task of the day is to plan for New Zealand. We are hoping to meet up with a very good friend of mine there who moved there about 2 years ago. Really looking forward to that.
Ciao
This is a blog is to keep all my friends and family up to date with my travelling adventures as I won't be able to fill everybody in at the same time. I am off travelling the year with my boyfriend Mike around the world. Lucky us! To those of you who know me, needless to say, this should be interesting.m

Insurance Hell
So, it has been a while.
Travel Insurance- stressful as hell! The fact I have MANY pre-existing medical conditions does not help! However, you would have thought they would give you a break instead of slapping on a huge charge for rubbish cover. It took me 3 days of filling out countless forms again and again just to be rejected! I have found ONE company that will cover me for everything for an entire year for Cancer, Splenectomy and Bilateral Pneumothorax (to name a few) at a staggering cost of about £1500!!!! SO EXPENSIVE! However, it is the only option so if you have had Cancer and/or other things and are going around the world for a year check out InsuranceWith.com and opt for LONG-STAY not backpacker as you get more (link at the bottom).
Many other insurance companies 'specialise' in cover for people with, or who have had Cancer and other serious medical conditions but there are time limits (45-90 days) and a lot of them just give you big fat red DECLINED. Anyway- after absolute hell and being put on hold, hours of phone calls and form filling, I am covered. Very expensive and crap coverage but that's life.
It is important to get covered for EVERYTHING as countries that you are not a national of will try and take advantage of your misfortune to get ill or injured. I have heard some stories from my doctor friends, one instance where at 60 year old man had slight arthritis in his left knee, whilst abroad he fell over and broke his right arm, he was covered because he didn't declare his slight arthritis in his left knee and was left with a hefty bill. Robbing B******S!
Visas are now all sorted, although Cambodia was a kerfuffle and it turns out we will have to apply for Cambodia and Thailand whilst in Hong Kong. First hostel is booked in Australia, in Sydney. Again- so expensive and this is for an 18 bed room! Around £115 each for a week! Mike and I are in 2 minds what to do about Australia at the moment as we both have different ideas- obviously mine is more logical and the right way to go ;) I will keep you updated.
